Our client, based in Buckinghamshire, is currently recruiting for a Support Worker. The role is an initial six week contract. The position is working on a 24 –hour sleep shift pattern (midday until midday), or shifts from 8:00am-8:00pm or 8:00pm-8:00am Monday to Sunday.
The position is due to start as soon as possible on a shift basis. The hourly rate for this role is negotiable, depending upon experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience providing support to customers with mental health needs, hold an Enhanced DBS within the last 3 years and be flexible on shift work availability.
Duties will include (but not limited to):
* Responsible for working in a frontline support service with customer needs including mental health and drug/alcohol misuse in a hostel based setting
* Carrying out tailored support plans and risk assessments
* Supporting customers regarding housing benefit entitlements and Universal Credit claims
* Providing wellbeing and emotional support on a one to one basis
* Assisting customers to register with GP’s and health services
* Helping customers with the move on process to more permanent accommodation following their 6 month stay with the hostel
* Ensuring service users are aware of the conditions of their license and tenancy agreements
* Providing advice on income, rent arrears and outstanding debts to try and effectively reduce these
* Signposting service users to additional Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol services
* Carrying out fire safety and Health and Safety checks in the service
* Promoting independence and engagement with the local community
* Night staff may have to monitor CCTV and be confident working on a lone basis
