Occupational Therapist – Winslow, Buckinghamshire
Salary: Bucks County Council Pay Range 6-7(Dependent on Experience)
Start Date: April 2021
My client is a centre of excellence for special educational needs. They support students aged 4-19years olds, they provide a supportive and aspirational environment for children with complex Special Educational Needs. This has been recognised by Ofsted in several years.
They are looking to appoint an Occupational Therapist for Primary, Secondary or Post 16. My client offers a 3 tier provision, within an inclusive and integrated approach. Supporting students with a wide range of special educational and clinical needs, including ASD, DLD, CAS and Dysphagia.
The Successful Candidate will work with the Education and Therapy team in order to set up and develop an integrated occupational Therapy service using a school based model of practice, deliver training to staff and Occupational Therapy input to students to ensure functional access and participation in a broad and balanced curriculum.
Role Responsibilities:
To work together with a multi-professional Therapy team which includes Speech and Language Therapist (1.2 FTE OT) and teaching team to set up a school based model of service delivery including policies, protocols and clinical pathways, and set a whole school approach to training.
To work together with the Occupational Therapy team to address environmental adaptations, organize therapy space and order/expand equipment inventory, decide on case load management and service/student priorities.
3years or more experience with children and young people under 19 years old.
Knowledge and experience pf Sensory Integration Practice, Autism, Down’s syndrome, learning difficulties and feeding, in order to carry out specific assessments and intervention in these areas.
To carry out a variety and range of direct assessments and classroom observations to inform curriculum design, training and inform student goal setting, programmes and intervention.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
A professional Occupational Therapy Degree or equivalent.
HCPC Registration.
Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists/British Association of Occupational Therapists
Experience as an Occupational Therapist working with Primary, Secondary or Post 16 pupils with complex communication and interaction difficulties
