Technical Support Engineer
Our client, a prestigious networking company based near Aylesbury, provides fibre-to-the-premise broadband services plus general ISP (Internet Service Provider) services such as co-location, dedicated/virtual servers, VoIP Services, internet connectivity and consultancy. Specialising in providing bespoke connectivity and hosting solutions for clients and partners, they operate a high-capacity IP network across five European countries.
Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 DOE
The Role:
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for providing support to broadband customers by phone, email and in customer’s homes. This will encompass looking after company equipment, troubleshooting and helping customers to connect their own devices. There is scope for the role to expand into customer installations and on-site support, fibre installation/splicing and working with the larger international ISP network. They work closely with their clients and take pride in their ability to provide closely tailored and effective advice and support, utilising as much in-house infrastructure as possible.
The Requirements:
The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication skills, in particular the ability to explain technical concepts and required customer actions in straightforward non-technical language.
* Good knowledge of home networking – IP addresses, DHCP, Wifi
* Good understanding of standard consumer equipment – phones, tablets, PC/Mac, Playstation/Xbox, TVs, etc
* Driving License is essential
* Experience in the following is advantageous, but not desirable: Linux systems administration, Basic Cisco network operations, Data centre/server room operations (power, racks and cabling), Knowledge of SIP telephony
