Job Description:
We are recruiting a Process Engineer / Senior Process Engineer / Principal Process Engineer to join our Water & Energy Business, with a focus on both water and wastewater process and industry and municipal treatment. Experience of Energy, or other industries would be of interest. The role can be based in any of our UK offices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Undertake process design work on projects as required, supervise, and check the work of assigned engineers as appropriate.
* Develop the basis of design according to needs, undertake detailed calculations to develop the design and be responsible for the accuracy of these calculations.
* Ensure that detail design methods, standards and data used conform with Client's requirements and / the Arcadis Way of Design and Engineering.
* Bringing or building a strong profile in the industry and keeping up to date with innovations and developments.
* Support our digital strategy whilst keeping abreast of the technology within the market.
* Working independently as well as with team on various projects in line with client requirements.
* Mentor and engage in the training and development of junior engineers in the team.
* Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed.
* Analyse data to evaluate the performance of existing client’s assets and develop site condition reports
* Develop process flow diagrams and mass balances including the interfaces and basic hydraulics between process units.
* Production of control philosophies and commissioning plans.
* Develop process and performance specifications.
* Perform safety related calculations and provide input to HAZOPs, SIL and other safety reviews as directed
* Liaise with other Engineering Disciplines by contributing to the review of supplier quotations, the project 3D CAD model and other multi-disciplinary project activities.
* Lead technical meetings and discussions with client engineers
* Keep up to date with developments in the industry sector and with technical and legislative developments and seek out opportunities to develop a strong professional profile at a National level (e.g. conference presentations, publications and participation in technical committees).
* Lead by example to promote continual improvement in SHE performance across the business.
* Travel to client’s sites / offices and work in a flexible manner with our various clients.
* Willingness to do secondments with different clients.
Required competencies:
* Design calculations and design reviews for treatment plant including process sizing
* Process layout’s independently and other process related specifications e.g. chemical dosing systems.
* At ease talking to clients, developing and accounts and winning work.
* Knowledge of Auto CAD MEP, MEP Revit, Navisworks as well as other industry software such as Verisim, WANDA, EPAnet etc.
* Preparation and checking of process specifications etc.
* P&ID’s, control philosophies and other deliverable documents related to the water treatment and wastewater treatment process.
* Understanding of the regulatory environment to achieve compliance with our engineering regulatory requirements.
* Inputting into bid documents.
* Must have previously worked during various phases of the project cycle from feasibility to commissioning.
* Detailed knowledge of the water industry with experience in designing water treatment and/or wastewater treatment plants (including biosolids).
* Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language, with good report writing, analytical and computer skills.

Qualifications
A degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent is essential.
Chartered or working towards becoming a Member of IChemE or equivalent institution
Sufficient and appropriate experience in process engineering (process design), preferably in regulated water but possibly in other relevant fields.
Relevant experience in both, drinking water and wastewater treatment.
Have significant relevant experience including leadership of the development and implementation of engineering solutions.
A PM qualification and training or on the job experience in business development, leadership and development of a strategic plan would be advantageous
