Part Time Teaching Assistant – Maidenhead
Huntercombe Maidenhead is in Taplow, within 1/2 mile of junction 7 of the M4, two miles from Maidenhead and six miles from Windsor. The hospital is set in a 13th century manor house with extensive gardens, we look after children and young people aged 12 to 18 years with mental health needs. We are a Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) hospital.
Job Purpose
We are now looking for an experienced part time Teaching Assistant to support and help our patients/pupils with their educational and social development, both in and out of the classroom. You will be working across age groups. The ages are between 12 and 18.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Getting the classroom ready for lessons
• Helping pupils who require extra support to complete tasks
• To support students working independently on their GCSE and A Level work sent from their home school/college
• To be responsible for record keeping of independent work and support with setting targets.
• Helping teachers to plan learning activities and complete records
• Support teachers in managing class behaviour
• Supervising group activities
• Clearing away materials and equipment after lessons
• Helping out with sporting events, concerts and hospital fete
• Taking part in training carrying out administrative tasks
• Acting as an exam invigilator
• Supporting teachers on school outings
Skills, interests and qualities
As a teaching assistant we would like you to have
• Experience of working with children
• The ability to build good relationships with patients, teachers, parents and carers
• A basic understanding of how children develop and learn
• Flexibility and creativity
• The ability to work as a team
• Good reading and writing skills
• Patience and a sense of humour the ability to manage groups of patients/pupils and cope with challenging behavior
• Perhaps some IT skills and perhaps be multi lingual
• You may have a qualification in child care, or a level 3 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
The hours of work will be 9am to 3.30pm for 2 days per week. The salary is £10.78 per hour.
