Our client is currently looking for a Purchasing Manager to join their team in Stokenchurch, Buckinghamshire!
This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious business with strong growth plans over the next 5 years with goals to open new market sectors with equally huge growth potential. You could join the company as Purchasing Manager and be based on their premises in Buckinghamshire with occasional travel internationally, on average 3 times per year.
You will play a pivotal role in taking new products to market and will be involved at each stage of product creation including design, prototyping, branding, manufacturing, and supply chain process. You will work alongside the MD, design team and warehousing to ensure a smooth process from manufacture to distribution. Your involvement will contribute greatly to improving the customer experience by ensuring a range of great products are available and that the company has the capacity and capability to deliver. You will be involved in several bespoke projects, and you can help shape the way this business works and set key priorities.
Salary: £38,000 per annum
Purchasing Manager Duties:
* To manage relationships with international based vendors predominantly the located in the Far East but also including the US
* To manage the full end to end supply chain process
* To line manage the current UK & EU buyer and further develop the internal purchasing processes.
* Run tender competitions to completion through to award
* Be involved in the future of the business, including product design, and overcoming the challenges in procurement to bring new ranges to market
* Sourcing equipment, goods, and services
* Sourcing worldwide including Far East, Pakistan, USA from established and new suppliers
* Supply chain management
* Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
* Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
* Creating & maintaining product specifications, measuring & maintaining quality of product
* Assess, manage, and mitigate risks
* Working with the MD / Marketing Manager to source new products
* Working with the FD to maximize cashflows
* Line manage the UK & EU Buyer
* Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand and ensure sufficient stock to meet the demand
* Managing stock holding to minimize stock on hand
* Managing supplier led times to operate on a JIT principle
* Working with the Warehouse Director to determine quantity and timing of deliveries
* Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
* Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
* Maintaining correct levels of system stock (vs physical)
* Monthly report to the Exec
Purchasing Manager Requirements:
This role would ideally suit a Senior Buyer looking for the next step or an experienced Purchasing Manager seeking a new challenge.
* Experience of managing an international supply base in a manufacturing environment
* Manage freight forwarding contracts both in the UK and for international transport of goods
* You should have run your own tender competitions through to award
* Experience of JIT
* Strong commercial acumen
* Be innovative and forward thinking in the creation of procurement policy and process
* Have an understanding of technical specifications
* Happy with occasional international travel – typically a few days to a week per quarter
* A strong passion for fitness or leisure actives would be ideal
* Proven working experience as purchasing manager, agent, or officer
* Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
* Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
* Strong negotiator
* Familiarity with the Chinese vendors
* Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
* Solid judgement along with decision making skills
* BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration (or CIPS Diploma or higher)
* Fluent Mandarin an advantage but not essential.
