Solar Developer

Solar power is constantly expanding with an estimated increase by tenfold in the 20 years. In response to this demand our client are seeking to hire a Solar Development Technician to deliver key projects in the UK.

In this role you will be responsible for the development of utility scale ground mounted projects (typically 5-100MW) following the full project life-cycle up to the point of being ready for construction.

Solar projects will be exclusively developed for a large institutional fund manager and one of the largest solar owners in the UK and Europe that has large ambitions to enter subsidy-free solar market.

The Role

Develop utility scale solar projects on and around sites in the UK, covering the full development cycle from origination to RTB status
Ad hoc desktop site identification, analysis & screening
Liaising with DNO's / TNOs regarding connection applications & offers
Liaising with ICPs for grid connections and EPC’s for site construction activity to make sure they are being progressed in tandem to planning progression (as required)
Generating site layouts to support developments
Run financial models throughout the development process and use price indicators to negotiate commercial terms which meet project margin requirements
Liaising with landowners to present / agree heads of terms, lease agreements / amendments and to facilitate access for planning studies
Working with external planning and specialist consultants, planning authorities and stakeholders to obtain consent
Working with external legal partners to obtain option to lease and lease agreements.
Monitoring and reporting on progress Knowledge & Experience

A strong track record in site orientation, site layouts / engineering is essential
A strong track record of grid & knowledge/relationships with UK DNOs is essential
A strong breadth of knowledge across utility scale ground mounted solar developments life cycle is essential
A strong track record and experience in utility scale UK ground mounted solar development is essential
A strong track record in working with and maintaining relationships with EPC contractors
An understanding of financial modelling / development economics such as capacity factor / yield / land rent
An understanding of Option to Lease/ land rights agreements is desirable
An understanding of renewables industry, energy and environmental issues in UK.
Developing and managing work-related projects, deadlines and resources across cross-functional teams
