Solution Architect

Milton Keynes (3 days per week / 2 days remote)

£68,000 – £81,000 depending on experience + discretionary 15% bonus scheme

Our market-leading client is looking to secure the services of a Solution Architect. As a Solution Architect you will help define and communicate the structure and dynamics of a solution that meets the requirements from key stakeholders in addition to identifying and highlighting architectural risk and providing recommendations for mitigation. The role will also include enabling the agile delivery teams to work effectively through a clear understanding of the separation of concerns and system dependencies. Working in close collaboration with Enterprise Architects and the development teams through the technical leads, the solution architect will work with Enterprise Architects to evolve the architecture based on IT Best practices and through architectural prototyping.

Key requirements for the Solution Architect role:

* Evaluating internal functions, systems, business strategies, and IT processes and then finding ways to improve these so that they support our clients future strategies and goals.

* Ensure that business and technology are in alignment by linking the business mission, strategy, and processes of an organization to it’s technology strategy, and by documenting this using multiple architectural models or views.

* Support the early life definition of Programmes and Projects including shaping and defining the scope and roadmap, and input into Business Cases e.g. Estimation, Impact Analysis.

* Manage or assist as requested the delivery of technical solutions that provide business advantage through effective right time, right cost, and right solution design.

* Working within a small/large team, to ensure that OSS / BSS architectural solutions / systems meet the company’s system requirements for robustness, reliability and cost-effectiveness: that architectural solutions are viable, pragmatic and are aligned to an architectural / business strategy.

* Technical specialist in all our software design & implementations, with experience of cloud and on premise systems architecture.

* Working with 3rd parties to ensure that their solutions / development commissioned are fit for purpose, and adhere to company standards.

* Technical understanding of today’s environment as well as keeping abreast of future emerging technologies.

Skills & experience of a Solution Architect role:

* Software development background with experience and ability to code, debug and reviewany of the following development languages: Python, Javascript, PHP, Web frameworks (Essential)

* Capable of using Telecoms, IT Industry and Enterprise Architecture Best Practice methodologies, processes, functions and data maps such as those used by TM Forum, or defined by ITIL, TOGAF, BPMN, UML etc.

* Able to define and articulate complex technical solutions to non technical stakeholders.

* Demonstrable experience of working with systems and solutions deployed in a cloud environment, ideally AWS.

* Experience of reverse engineering undocumented legacy systems and software, including data models.

* Good commercial awareness, with the ability to select the best-fit product for a given purpose.

* Experience of Process Management methodologies

* Excellent communication skills, communicating to both internal and external clients

* SAFe Agile extensive experience working in a scaled Scrum or Kanban environment.
