Role: Senior Design Subject Matter Expert
Location: Milton Keynes
Job Purpose:
Lead a team of Design Subject Matter Experts in delivering design specification and technical authority on specialist technologies within Telecoms Asset Management that aligns with technical strategies. Provides a consultancy service around specialist technology, service delivery and projects.
Key Accountabilies:
1)Lead on Identifying, innovating and help drive the Network roadmap in liaison with the strategy, Architecture, product and service departments.
2)Lead and manage the Subject Matter Design Engineers to engage with customers/clients to understand the business requirements/problem statements and translate these to standard designs products and services
3)Provide the principles and process around the IP network in terms of network topology configuration, acceptance and operations and deliver design in accordance with the Network Architecture
4)Report on and monitor capacity trending and plan IP network upgrades accordingly.
5)Provide technical Design consultancy to different projects and customers as required.
6)Identify network infrastructure opportunities for the implementation of technical improvements that add value to the business through achievement of 'better, faster, cheaper' infrastructure, based on current and future requirements.
7)To anticipate internal and external business challenges and to be proactive with recommending new technical requirements or improvements to existing projects.
8)Lead on the Creation and maintenance of the HL and LL design standards and templates.
9)To undertake the role of CEM/CRE for designs for specific Projects.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Essential
·Demonstrable evidence of leading a technical team driving change in enhancement within a telecoms / Datacom’s and or the railway environment.
·Substantial experience in IP/MPLS engineering or operations within a telecoms environment.
·Architect technical knowledge level of IP networks as well as an awareness of protection architectures and the different overlying service types such as IP/MPLS and Voice
·Delivery of carrier class IP network services; ideally with CISCO, Alcatel-Lucent and Juniper.
·Significant experience in an infrastructure design.
·Educated to degree standard or equivalent in a technical subject.
Desirable
·Knowledge of Cramer and OSS within a telecoms environment.
·Knowledge of network design and operation supporting Rail or Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).
·Knowledge of optical management systems and optical planning tools.
·Formal network certifications but not limited to (CCNP/CCDP/CCIE/CCDE).
·Project management certification (Prince)
