Youth Engagement Practitioner
Full-Time Contract (37.5 hours per week)
‘After school has finished, at weekends and during school holidays we want young people to be engaged and have fun in groups and activities.’
An opportunity has become available for the role of ‘Youth Engagement Practitioner’ to help us in delivering our agenda to increase more activities and engagement for the young people in our care. The role will work very closely with the CSU Nurses, Doctors, Senior Support Workers and Support Workers to achieve optimised patient engagement and involvement within the clinical areas. The focus of the role will be similar those defined with a ‘Youth Workers’ role.
Key areas of delivery

Ensuring non clinical activities are operational throughout the CSU’s within core hours and out of hours working on the concept of a ‘25 hour timetable’

Act as a Youth Worker for the CSU’s providing specialist support
*
Working with the Hospital’s school to increase attendance and engagement
*
121’s and key work with individual young people who require intensive support in terms of engagement
*
Optimising and engaging with patients and staff to improve engagement
*
Patient / Service User Involvement with CSU
*
Arranging internal activity events as well as linking with external providers
*
Assisting the care staff with engaging with young people during periods of observations
*
Qualities
*
Charismatic, friendly but disciplined in approach with engagement activities
*
Empathic and responsible individual with proven ability to lead, motivate and manage young people on projects
*
Good organisation and time management skills; able to prioritise workloads effectively, meet deadlines and monitor outcomes
*
Full driving licence desirable
This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. The hours of work will generally be 12pm to 8pm and will include 1 day every other weekend.
