Would your friends describe you as enthusiastic, patient and warm? Come and help people with learning disabilities to live the way they want. Your influence will last long after your shift ends. We have vacancies for full-time and part-time Support Workers at our Registered Care service in Crownhill, Milton Keynes.
Outline
We are looking for cheerful, motivated people to bring new ideas and experiences for the people we support. They have a range of learning disabilities and in some cases physical disabilities.
As we come out of lockdown everyone is looking forward to getting out and about again, whether that's to the pub, dancing, a walk in the country or a meal out, and you'll join in with these activities. At home people enjoy Lego, working with puzzles, listening to music and many other activities. These are active houses with a total of 14 people supported in two neighbouring properties.
Some people require help with personal care, dressing and medication. Peg feeding and hoisting are also required in some instances. You will also support their emotional needs and find ways to facilitate good communication – not everyone at these services has verbal communication but we provide full Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) coaching.
You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. There are around three sleep-ins a month, and shift times are 07:30 to 15:00 and 14:30 to 22:00.
"The registered manager and senior team lead by example, promoting the vision and values of the service. One staff member said, [Registered manager] is very good at listening, she is very approachable, here almost every day and works her socks off." – CQC Report July 2017
