Supervised Contact Worker – South London – Full time (Monday – Friday including some weekends)
The main purpose of the role is to observe and supervise contact between children and family members, or friends, either within our Children's Contact Centres/ Children and Family Centres or in the local community, and occasionally in the family home.
Skills/Knowledge:
Applicants must have good report writing skills in order to accurately and factually describe observations of contact. Must be able to identify the strengths of those attending as well as all potential risks intervening, where necessary, to reduce or remove any harm or abuse, therefore an awareness of families and family dynamics, along with a good understanding of child development is key.
Previous relevant experience of working with children and families a caring profession in statutory, private or voluntary sector
An excellent understanding of the provision of supervised contact
Understanding of family dynamics, the impact on children, parents and carers of family breakdown and related issues.
Basic underastanding of child development
Knowledge of safeguarding children and child protection, with understanding of key risk factors as described in the Children’s Act 1989 and any subsequent amendments (eg CA 2004).
A clear understanding of what data protection, GDPR, freedom of information and confidentiality means to service delivery
Requirements:
A recognised qualification, such as NVQ, at Level 3 in Child Care or Health and Social Care or other equivalent.
GCSE (Level 2) Maths and English Grade C / Grade 4 or above
