Service Manager
Homelessness Service
Milton Keynes
Up to £40,700 per annum
I am looking for a very special person to join a leading charity in Milton Keynes and run a flagship residential service for former rough sleepers and those finding themselves homeless. The unit is part of a package of innovative rough sleeper solutions developed by MK Council, and this role will involve you leading a fantastic team dedicated to supporting individuals onto that next step in their lives in a hugely rewarding role. The project is a supported accommodation facility with 10 bedrooms and 3 move-on flats for people who have previously faced homelessness.
Practical living skills are taught (like washing, laundry, cooking and budgeting) as well as assistance given with applications and forms for benefits, training, education and employment. Residents also have access to health and mental health care as well as drugs and alcohol support services from community partners to ensure that their recovery and progress is maintained.
Duties for this role will include:
* Managing a service for former rough sleepers and those finding themselves homeless
* Ensuring a high-quality service is delivered at all time
* Managing and developing services, including, but not limited to homeless and rough sleeping services
* Developing and maintaining excellent external relationships with stakeholders, key funders, local council and businesses
* Ensuring the effective delivery of services in line with the contractual obligations specified in the Service Level Agreement and the efficient delivery of services within budget
* Providing day to day line management to the team including rostering of staff over a 24-hour shift system as well as managing the recruitment of and development of staff including HR, performance and capability issues
To be successful in the role of Service Manager you must have:
* A demonstrable track record of managing a range of services in Homelessness, Outreach or a related field such as a health or social care setting and preferably have experience of managing a supported living project or service
* Experience of joint working and liaising with professionals at all levels
* Evidence of partnership working and delivery of client focussed services
* Experience of leading a team to achieve objectives
* He ability to monitor and evaluate standards for quality to inform a process of continuous improvement
* Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
* Driving licence and use of own car
* A commitment to service user involvement
* Experience of managing budgets
