A fantastic opportunity to join a stable staff team within a children’s home as a Senior Residential Support Worker. The home is run by an excellent Home Manager and Deputy Home Manager who have extensive experience in children’s residential care. They will provide you with support for your career progression, great training opportunities and an in-depth induction.
The home provides therapeutic care to young people aged between 12 and 18 years who have complex, emotional behavioural issues due to experiencing significant negative trauma. The young people regularly attend education and take part in extracurricular activities. The home has recently been beautifully refurbished and decorated.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker you will work on average two to three 24 hour shifts per week, which consist of a long day, sleep in and the following morning.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker your key duties and responsibilities will be:
Shift leading a team to provide therapeutic support to children and young people who have emotional behavioural difficulties which present with challenging behaviours.
Creating a caring, safe, fun and enriching environment for the young people, establishing positive relationships with them to promote their sense of security.
Supporting, encouraging and supervising Support Workers
Helping the Home Manager with administrative tasks, household management and team recruitment
Making sure daily reports are completed on time and all records and are kept up to date
Being a Key Worker for individual children
Participating in care planning and case review meetings
Liaising with other professionals and external agencies
To work alongside the therapy team to implement relevant interventions that allow young people to progress.
To ensure that all young people are safeguarded and correct procedure and protocol is followed when doing so such as missing protocols and OFSTED notifications.
The successful Senior Residential Support Worker will have the following qualities, qualification and experience:
Passionate about enabling positive outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable children
Holds a Diploma Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare or NVQ3 Children and Young People’s Workforce
Holds a full driving licence
Previous experience of working in a children’s residential service with children under 16 years of age
