Enhance your learning and the care you provide as a Residential Support Worker. You will be joining an organisation which utilises an all-embracing therapeutic model that meets the needs of each child in all aspects of their life.
As part of a team you will support and rehabilitate 3 children who have complex needs and emotional behavioural difficulties, to due experiencing severe negative trauma.
Your skilled care will be supported by therapists, clinical psychologists, health and education professionals to help the young people deal with their past experiences and prepare for the future.
Your role as a Residential Support Worker will involve:
* Working as a team providing care to vulnerable children in a family style home.
* Working 3 long days and two sleep in shifts per week which will include weekend and bank holiday days on a rota basis.
* Promoting the children's physical and emotional well-being and their road to independence.
* Encouraging and joining in with the children in going out and taking part in a wide range of activities.
* Motivating the young people's efforts in attaining their goals.
* Dealing with challenging behaviour in a firm but fair way – acting as a professional parent to promote positive behaviour.
* Empathising, listening and guiding.
* Being involved in mealtimes and keeping the house clean and tidy
* Writing daily reports and keeping each child's records up to date.
* Driving to children to school, activities and appointments using the home's car.
The organisation provides great training which includes a two week induction and ongoing career support. They will also support and fund you to attain a Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare, which will enable you to move up to Senior Support Worker and through to Service Manager.
Successful applicants will be resilient and have a natural, positive attitude to be able to cope with challenging behaviours to see the rewards of turning around the lives of these vulnerable young people
