An opportunity has arisen for a Residential Manager at a secure training centre in Milton Keynes. The centre cares for children aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The vulnerable children in the centres care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for children to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led them into custody.
The secure training centre works closely with the Youth Custody Services to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending.
They are now looking for a Residential Manager to join the operational team. To succeed in this role, you must be a dynamic and engaging individual, who shares the companys ethics and values. You must deliver an exceptional service and can be flexible in working in diverse functions within the centre. You will also need to have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate and empower staff to deliver outstanding results. A proven leader, you will inspire your team and have the ability to win hearts and minds.
As the Residential Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Proactively planning each shift, including activities and visits, in order to positively manage children’s behaviour. Ensure effective and clear information and handovers with your staff teams so that effective behaviour management, security and safety are maintained
Participating in the Admission and assessment process of children paying regard to vulnerability and safety
Demonstrating the value of education and care to children; through pro-social modelling and ability develop staff skills to change behaviour, encouraging them not to re-offend when released.
Forming trusting, respectful and professional relationships with children, in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and guidance.
Facilitating group and individual offending behaviour programmes, complying with training plans and within contractual compliance, in order to reduce offending.
Liaising effectively and professionally with internal and external agencies, parents and carers, in order to maximise partnership working and positive outcomes for children.
It’s key that you are flexible and adaptable to deal with ever-changing scenarios within the Centre and you will be supported by an enthusiastic and committed team.
