We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and vibrant individual to join the managerial team who oversee our Overnight Home Care Service which provides support to Adults (18+) with a wide variety of care needs. The purpose of our service is to enable people with care and support needs to remain living in their own homes. You will be responsible for managing a team of care staff who provide care visits to our Service Users through the night, ensuring that the highest quality care and support is delivered in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards. You will report to the Registered Manager of the service but will hold responsibility for the operational management of the service and will take the lead on all staff management responsibilities for your team of care staff. The service operates as a part of the wider Home Care Service within Milton Keynes Council, and the working hours for this role are 20:30hrs till 07:00hrs. This contract is for an average of 18.5 hours per week with you working a set shift pattern. Due to the working hours, this role receives an Alternative Working Pattern Payment of an additional 35% on total basic pay. The service operates across the Milton Keynes area, and you will be required to travel between each visit, so being a driver with access your own vehicle is essential.
Key Duties
* To provide day to day lead for the team who deliver person centred personal care services to vulnerable adults with complex needs in the community (in Service Users own homes). Monitoring the changing need of people using the service and adapting support to effectively meet these needs and ensuring positive outcomes for customers.
* To provide management support across different locations in the community (services users own homes), monitoring the quality of care delivery and ensuring that the service is consistently meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards in line with the 5 Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOE’s).
* Using own professional knowledge and experience to ensure the delivery of service reporting any identified issues to concerns to the Registered Manager of the service
* To ensure that team recording is in accordance with policy and that the services follows legal requirements and guidance, including The Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and CQC standards.
* To take the lead on and report to the Registered Manager, Service Manager or Head of Service HR any issues in relation to carers performance, collating and analysing arising information, writing and delivering reports as required under MKC policy.
* To ensure that all service user data and recording of service activity is accurate and up to date. Help to provide and analyse data to assist with the benchmarking of the performance of the service, using this information to help inform service development and improved practices.
* To actively manage first line concerns and investigate complaints from people who use the service and their families. Providing clear information to the Registered Manager and Service Manager to ensure any concerns are properly investigated and resolved within agreed timescales.
* Work under the direction of the Registered Manager to develop staff skill sets through coaching, multi-disciplinary working, and arranging of specific training. Enabling the service to take on service users with complex needs.
* This is a key worker role demanding a high standard of care and an awareness of the special requirements associated with older people, disabled and other vulnerable groups. Considering diverse cultural needs is an essential element of the role. It involves mainly working alone to meet our service users assessed needs, responding to any changes or emergency situations as they arise.
Experience, Qualifications and any Mandatory Requirements
* Minimum of 3 years experience working within services supporting vulnerable adults.
* The applicant must hold a minimum of an NVQ / QCF Level 3 in Social Care, with a willingness to complete a Level 4 Qualification.
Skills Required
* Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act and CQC requirements.
* Proven ability to problem solve and manage complex situations, this must include ability to make calm and balanced decisions.
* Proven ability to exercise highly developed influencing skills to affect change across teams delivering complex service to vulnerable people.
* Proven ability to analyse, summarise and write / record relevant information clearly and concisely, linking to planning and completing actions effectively in the best interests of the service.
