Clinical Psychologist in Sport/Performance – The Role:
Changing Minds are offering an exciting opportunity for an Early Career Clinical Psychologist to join our Performance Services Team. This innovative and exciting role will involve providing individual and systemic psychological support across one (or more) of our key contracts within sport and business, with the aim of supporting people to ‘Perform Well®' and develop more psychologically-informed performance systems.
We are inviting applications from the Midlands, Greater London and the surrounding counties. Some virtual, home-based working (a laptop will be provided) is possible, but the role will also involve face-to-face working and some travel to various organisations across the region, according to the needs of our clients.

ALL APPLICANTS REQUIRE (OR ARE NEAR TO COMPLETING) A DOCTORATE IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY OR EQUIVALENT, CONFERRING ELIGIBILITY FOR HCPC REGISTRATION AS A PRACTITIONER PSYCHOLOGIST.
Clinical Psychologist in Sport/Performance – Key Responsibilities:
– Working flexibly within a range of contracts (e.g., sports and business settings) alongside colleagues from the Performance Services Team, supporting people to Perform Well®
– Working systemically with coaches, managers, support and executive staff to develop Psychological Informed Performance Systems
– Providing psychological consultations and assessments, and providing a range of individual (or group) therapeutic interventions based on a psychological understanding of needs and most up to date evidence base
– Undertaking risk assessment, formulation, and management for individual clients and providing advice on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management
– Developing materials and delivering (or co-delivering) training sessions and workshops for staff teams and parents/carers
– Facilitating well-being forums, team formulations, reflective practice sessions and staff support groups
Clinical Psychologist in Sport/Performance – You:
– We are looking for someone who is compassionate, empathic, playful, collaborative and who enjoys working as part of a team
– They must have integrity, good self (and other) awareness, be hardworking, courageous, and able to sensitively challenge and influence others
– Doctoral level training in Clinical or other relevant applied psychology (e.g., Counselling Psychology)
– Registration with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist
– Experience of working with a broad range of client groups, with a varied range of presenting needs across the lifespan
– Experience and skills in psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based intervention.
– Experience of work in multidisciplinary team/multi-agency contexts
– Experience and skills in undertaking risk assessments, recognising safeguarding concerns and acting appropriately, following safeguarding guidance and processes
– Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, interpretation, and practice and – Experience of research and service evaluation within a clinical context
– Ability to engage well with a range of clients, teams, and systems
