This leading children's residential care organisation will invest in you by taking you through therapeutic training modules to enhance your learning and the care you provide as a Children's Home Support Worker. As part of a team, you will support and rehabilitate 3 children who have complex needs to due experiencing severe negative trauma, in a family style home.
Your role as a Children's Home Support Worker will involve:
Working 3 long days and two sleep in shifts per week including some weekend and bank holiday days on a rota basis.
Providing high quality, therapeutic care that will enable each young person to grow and develop healthily.
Providing social and emotional support to raise the children’s esteem, enabling them to develop positive relationships.
Encouraging and joining in with the children in going out and taking part in a wide range of activities.
Motivating the young people's efforts in attaining their goals.
Dealing with challenging behaviour in a firm but fair way – acting as a professional parent to promote positive behaviour.
Empathising, listening and guiding.
Being involved in mealtimes and keeping the house clean and tidy.
Writing daily reports and keeping each child's records up to date.
Driving to children to school, activities and appointments using the home's car.
You will be joining an organisation which utilises an all-embracing therapeutic model that meets the needs of each child in all aspects of their life. Your skilled care will be supported by therapists, clinical psychologists, health and education professionals to help the young people deal with their past experiences and prepare for a better future.
Essential requirements of Children's Home Support Worker applicants:
A high degree of resilience and a naturally positive approach to be able to continuously turnaround complex behaviour into long-term positive outcomes.
You must hold a full driving licence to be able to transport the children in the company's car.
You need to be available and flexible to work long day shifts and sleep ins, which means being in the home 24 hours. You will work 3 long day shifts and 2 sleeps in per week on average.
The organisation provides great training which includes a two week induction and ongoing career support. They will also support and fund you to attain a Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare, which will enable you to move up to Senior Support Worker and through to Service Manager
