The role?
Merryfields is a 14 bed Short Break Residential Service providing 24 hour care for 5 – 18 year olds with moderate to severe learning disabilities. We strive and work towards providing top tiered person – centered care. We also hold various activities on a day-to-day basis to encourage social experiences and promote equality and diversity throughout the service.

If so, you are in luck as we are currently looking for Residential Workers who take pride in providing the best level of care to Children and Young People to join our team! We will provide full training for you to qualify and progress your career.
As an Assistant Residential Worker, it will be your responsibility to liaise with the children, young people and their families to ensure that their care is always to the best possible standard. You will also be supporting them with all aspects of their care.
How will you make a difference?
By supporting children and young people in their personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures in line with the services policies and procedures.
Feeding and maintaining personal hygiene.
By assisting service users in activities and trips such as to the park, boat riding, and cinemas etc.
By contributing to the development and evaluation of care plans and risk assessments as part of link worker role.
By promoting communication and participation throughout the service.
By attending meetings/reviews with other care professionals to promote person – centred care.
By promoting independence and Equality & Diversity throughout the service.
By ensuring safeguarding practices are in place.
By engaging in 1-1 sessions with the children and young people to support them to develop and achieve positive outcomes.
What will you need?

Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organisational skills
The ability to work well within a team
Have the type of mentality to see this as a career step not another job
Previous experience working with either Children or Service Users with disabilities would be an advantage but once again training will be provided
Must possess Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent to be achieved within 2 years of taking up the postThe way we work
