Our client is a prominent Food Service organisation with a global footprint. As a recognisable brand around the world, they have an agile and fast-paced company culture and put a huge emphasis on people development and work/life balance. They have a requirement for a Quality Assurance Manager to join them on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Reporting into the Senior Quality Improvement Manager, the purpose of the role is to ensure that all products adhere to specification, maximise product quality, food safety and profitability for franchisees. This will be achieved by on-going continuous improvement against KPIs, managing root cause analysis with suppliers and tracking performance improvement against agreed timelines. You will also work closely with the Purchasing team to unlock key technical issues that will drive value.
What you will be doing:
• Proactively manage category supplier performance in all areas of quality, food safety and relevant project delivery
• Investigate and resolve food safety, quality and/or integrity issues escalated by store facing teams (including Supply Chain, Support Desk, etc.) with suppliers and distributors, to find lasting solutions
• Develop and drive quality improvement projects with suppliers, whilst securing stakeholder buy-in. This will include temperature verification programmes in supply chain and mock recall tests for managed categories
• Mentor purchasing teams in understanding and delivering acceptable quality standards and work with suppliers to ensure compliance to food safety policies and procedures
• Carry out other projects to support quality, safety and food e.g. compliance on CSR or food fraud risk management
• Develop long-term relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders that will deliver sustainable value and improved quality, and challenge suppliers on the root cause analysis of issues
Skills and experience required:
• Proven experience in quality assurance gained in the food sector and a strong track record in technical KPI management and delivery of improved quality and value performance with suppliers
• Thorough understanding of root cause analysis, quality management systems and food production systems
• Experience in working cross-functionally with key stakeholders to deliver objectives
• Able to work strategically and commercially with the ability to understand business strategies as well as being hands-on in approach and resolve issues
• Not afraid to work in a high-pressured environment and adapt to evolving business needs
• An interest in food and an enthusiasm to taste ALL types of food
