Reporting to the Group Procurement Manager you will control and plan material purchases, including on-site support services, to ensure the business plans are met in the most cost effective way.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
* Assisting the Group Procurement Manager in operating the material element of the business in its entirety which includes planning element involvement.
* Assisting the Group Procurement Manager in managing material stock levels to ensure minimum capital employed, but also to satisfy MRP effectively. Specifically ensure material is on time when required.
* Assisting the Group Procurement Manager in identifying, liaising and negotiating with material suppliers – ensure lowest cost at all times
* Managing contracted on-call requirements from suppliers
* Managing and control delivery of repaired components to customers
* Ensuring materials supply matches production requirements
* Purchasing and store materials to ensure compliance with Special Stock procedures
* Identify, confirm demands via MRP & conversion to Purchase orders
* Ensure cost recovery due to DRAN’s working alongside QC department
* Ensuring that supplier performance is monitored and adhered to.
Responsibilities:
* Assist the Group Procurement Manager in implementing purchasing objectives and target cost reductions, whilst maintaining high standards of procurement ethics.
* Working closely with expediters, ensure the business unit purchasing department minimise inventory levels whilst supporting the published lead-times and sales promotional activities and meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations in terms of on-time in-full delivery performance.
* In line with the Business Unit Programme, negotiate sourcing agreements for components from external suppliers by initiation of enquiries and negotiation of prices and delivery terms, to agreed specifications.
* To maintain competitive advantage by ensuring lowest cost sourcing, to specified quality standards, for products and services. Deliver significant material cost reduction on priority strategic sourcing across the whole business unit.
* To ensure sourcing agreements are consistent with the specific requirements of the business units such that benefit to the Company is maximised without prejudicing the competitive position of either site within the business unit.
* To maintain excellent relationships with the Strategic Supplier base.
* To assist in the liaison between Engineering and Suppliers in obtaining quotations for new product programmes and ensuring agreed specifications and technical documents are approved before quotations are sought.
JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
* Procurement background.
* Highly numerate, IT literate and analytical.
* Willing to drive personal development and are able to work off their own initiative.
* Strategic, problem solver and have the ability to make key decisions.
* Strong communication skills.
* Confident to challenge standard ways of purchasing
