A global market leading multinational engineering company working with clients in the automotive, scientific, pharmaceutical, medical, electronics, oil and gas, consumer products and food processing industries and many more have a brand new exciting opening in Procurement to assist their Procurement Manager in the management of the company's Supplier Base, you'll be responsible for building long-term relationships with high quality suppliers. Ideally you will have some engineering experience with a manufacturing company or OEM.
This position is based at their Technical Centre in Milton Keynes.

Salary: £25,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience), superb career and technical progression available, subsidised staff canteen, sports and social club, Bonus Scheme, Pension, Private Medical Insurance, 25 days holiday.
Objective of the Buyer:
* Establish and maintain purchasing policies and procedures that align with the corporate strategies of the Company and ensure these are complied with
* Negotiation of best price, delivery and service for purchased requirements.
* Raising of Purchase Orders for Departments.
* Take responsibility for day-to-day management of contracts as specified by the Procurement Manager.
* Initiate purchasing projects for cost reduction as required by the Procurement Manager.
* Accounts Payable / Cost allocation by Cost Centres of certain Suppliers/ expenditure.
* Support Accounts Payable as required.
* Continuously strive to initiate improvements in the purchasing process and working practices
* Communicating with all departments ensuring issues are acted upon efficiently and concluded upon satisfactorily
Key Skill Requirements for the Buyer opening
* You must have a technical background understanding manufacturing processes and be able to read drawings
* You will need some good solid purchasing or procurement or buying experience within a manufacturing/ engineering company.
* (Purchasing training and development would be given)
* Some experience with MRP systems.
Qualifications for the Buyer required
* Engineering – HND Qualificiation Ideally
* Studied CIPS is a plus or willing to study in the future.
Attributes required for this procurement role:
* Proactive
* Good with people skills both internal and with suppliers.
* Being a team player is very important and deal with pressure sometimes.
* Does not mind repetition of daily tasks (Eg order placement and expediting)
* Looking longer term a desire to progress within the Purchasing Department
