We are looking for a Buyer or Junior Buyer looking to step up, with grocery food category experience to join the business in order to develop innovative buying and ranging strategies which focus on tailoring the right range for the right store.

We are working with a brilliant grocery retailer based who continue to grow and have a really exciting future. This diverse business is positive in its outlook with investment in increasing the store portfolio and the team to meet the increasing demand.

What does this Buyer role involve?

You will be a 'hands-on' self-starter and must have excellent proven influencing and negotiating skills in managing product costs and income generation as well as the ability to develop, manage and implement category plans.

As a Buyer your role will be to manage your supplier relationships and maximise the long-term profitability of specified categories whilst achieving your short & long term budgeted targets.

What qualities will you need to be successful in this Buyer role?

You must be able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and above all be able to multi task in a timely and efficient manner. You will also be required to demonstrate an aptitude for financial acumen in managing your budgets. Purchasing experience is essential, preferably within the Retail / Food service / Wholesale sectors.

Grocery or similar FMCG category experience at Buyer level or Junior Buyer looking to step up.
You will need to be commercially aware of both the category and the overall business, with the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
You will need to negotiate effectively across all levels.
Commercial experience in planning, category, ranging areas within a multi-site food retail business
Experience of using customer insight and data to create and deliver a winning customer led offer
Able to demonstrate the ability to drive and influence business change
