Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join their small but busy purchasing team. You will assist the Procurement Manager in the management of the Supplier Base. Building long-term relationships with high quality suppliers, ensuring they comply with the Company’s approval standards. Ensuring the procurement function within the Company is operating efficiently and effectively. Purchasing training and development will be provided to enhance current skill sets.

The main duties of the role are:

* Establish and maintain purchasing policies and procedures

* Raising of purchase orders

* Management of Contracts

* Initiate purchasing projects

* Negotiation of best price, delivery and service for purchased requirements

Requirements

You will need a technical background – with experience from a manufacturing/engineering environment.

You will have a good understanding of manufacturing processes and be able to work with technical drawings. Whilst the role is ideal for an experienced buyer looking for a career move, candidates from an engineering background who would like to move into a procurement role will also be considered.

Education

Business Studies or Engineering qualification.

CIPS qualification is a plus, or you must be willing to study in the future.

Does not mind repetition of daily tasks (E.g. order placement and expediting)
