A new opportunity has arisen for an Interim Divisional Accountant within a South East NHS Trust. The post holder will provide Managers with high quality financial support, business advice and to assist with strategic decision making.
Main responsibilities:
To provide a professional finance service to managers and clinicians within an agreed portfolio of Clinical and Non Clinical Directorates, and to ensure that all relevant financial procedures and guidance are adhered to as per the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions / Standing Orders;
To work with Directorate Managers to produce annual budgets which fulfil all required objectives and are within the resources available to the Directorate and the Trust as a whole to provide maximum utilisation of resources in the most effective manner;
To provide Directorate Managers with high quality, accurate, relevant and timely information to ensure financial targets are met and, in conjunction with other directorate accountants review and update systems of reporting income, activity, manpower and expenditure as required;
To ensure that Directorates receive regular monthly management reports within the agreed timetable and ad hoc reports as required;
To develop plans in conjunction with Directorates to manage activity and costs within targets and to ensure that any current variances are reported and corrective action plans produced;
To provide regular forecasts covering costs, activity, manpower and income and to report potential variances from plans and to initiate plans to implement corrective action as necessary.
Key Skills/Experience:
Significant experience in NHS;
Excellent problem solving skills;
Proactive with strong communication skills.
