Spencer Clarke Group are working alongisde Slough Council to hire a COVID 19 Public Health Officer on a contract basis.
Slough Borough Council’s Education Team is fully integrated into the overall COVID 19 response in Slough, particularly with regard to schools and education. Currently the team is working closely with Public Health England, the Department for Education and the Slough Borough Council Outbreak Management Team to help prevent, respond to and learn from cases, clusters and outbreaks in schools, educational establishments and among children in general.
The Schools COVID 19 Public Health Officer will be a key coordinating and responsive role in this structure.
The main aspects of the role will
Act as a single point of contact (SPOC) for enquiries from schools and educational establishments requiring COVID advice.
Escalate and support the management of complex incidents and outbreaks of infectious diseases and non-infectious environmental hazards as appropriate with support from PHE and Slough Public Health.
Utilise an evidence based approach to manage clinical/professional advice and discussions within the team, seeking senior advice as/when appropriate.
Provide schools experiencing an outbreak and therefore having contact tracing requirements with advice.
Provide schools with advice regarding bubble size, staff working and other national guidance.
Act as a conduit between schools, Education Team, Public Health and Duty Desk.
Keep up to date with current national and regional guidance regarding schools response to COVID 19.
Review the current schools support, advice and notification system and implement improvements as necessary.
Advise on School risk assessments and disseminate any learning from a school outbreak management.
Provide a link to giving COVID advice to Independent Schools.
The post holder will also contribute to addressing the wider health impacts of COVID 19 related to schools, education and children.
Support identification and reporting of health needs, health inequalities and health impact assessment regarding children.
Qualifications
Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN School Nursing pathway) qualification
Registered Nurse qualification
Masters Degree in Public Health or similar
Post registration experience
Experience of working in or with schools or other settings like care homes, hospitals etc.
Multi-disciplinary/multi-agency working.
Knowledge and understanding of national and local current COVID guidance re schools
