About the role:
They are currently seeking a Payment Support Advisor to have day to day responsibility for collecting rent arrears and any other housing related debts owed to the organisation whilst working respectfully and proactively with customers to enable them to take control of their debt and remain in their home. Your main responsibilities will include monitoring accounts and implementing collection procedures; negotiating agreements for the repayment of debts and preparing and serving all paperwork for the service of notices, possession proceedings and evictions. You’ll also prepare cases and represent the organisation at court, apply for direct payments from the local authority or DWP where appropriate and make referrals to internal and external support services promptly to ensure that customers receive the support required to prevent tenancy failure.

Experience of rent collection or other debt recovery

Experience of dealing with customers who have vulnerabilities and may be in crisis, experiencing high levels of stress or suffering from mental ill health
*
The ability to deliver an outstanding, customer focussed service
*
A high level of emotional intelligence with the ability to recognise these emotions and be able to handle situations calmly, respectfully and professionally
*
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
*
Excellent organisational and record keeping skills
*
Knowledge of Open Housing would be advantageous
