GBR Recruitment Ltd are proudly working in partnership with a charity retail organisation recruiting for an experienced HR Business Partner to successfully support business activity across the Eastern areas of the UK working on a FLEX basis with 2-3 days at home / 2-3 days at the London HQ or on the road visiting retail branches in this varied role.

Job Purpose:
1. Build a strong understanding of the Charities Retail vision, sales targets and workforce in order to influence how we can drive profit through people.
2. To partner closely with the Regional & Retail Area Managers on HR Operations across the employee life-cycle, including Recruitment, Induction, ER Cases, Compliance, Pay & Benefits, Talent Management, Learning & Development & Leavers.
3. Implement the HR Strategic initiatives, which support our vision of becoming a top 10 Charity to work, by acting in a way that will influence and improve employee engagement scores, being visible of the employees and ensuring people are treated fairly and respectfully.
HR BP focus:
* Improving Retail Sales & Profit levels via coaching & mentoring managers
* Improving Employee Engagement & Retention Scores
* Reducing Lost Productivity Costs i.e. store closure days due to staff issues, average cost per hire, sickness absence rate, employee turnover rate and reduced overtime spend
* Receiving Positive Feedback – From the Regional Retail Management Team
Key Responsibilities:
Hiring – Work closely with the Retail Area Managers to identify hiring needs. Fully brief the Recruitment Coordinator who will advertise and coordinate the vacancy. Provide guidance and advice on the best selection methods and attend interviews where possible, to hire talented people, that share our values.
New Joiners – Effective on-boarding. Meeting with all new joiners in person or via Skype to welcome them and run through the HR Induction Checklist. Deal with any pre-employment check issues raised by the HR Administrator. Support the Head of HR with the Induction Revamp Project.
ER & Compliance – Take a lead role in dealing with any ER issues and identify root cause of the problem as to why this are arising to put in place interventions. Providing specialist HR advice and guidance on all aspects of employee relations including highly complex, contentious and sensitive matters relating to capability, sickness, disciplinary and grievance issues). Partner with the Retail Area Managers and create all letters on their behalf, to ensure we adhere to the law with support from the HR Administrator. Attend ER meetings wherever possible and provide Managers with coaching and feedback to help them improve their skills. Ensure HR Policies and procedures drive a safe environment to protect employees, volunteers, contractors and members of the public.
Appraisals – Ensure the Retail goals and communicated and support Managers in setting smart objectives, cascading down. Coach Managers and run workshops if required on how to set robust performance objectives and proactively identify who is underperforming and support Managers to deal with this.
Talent & Succession – Run talent reviews and succession planning workshops in line with our HR calendar, to identify people who are high performing and can progress internally. Help to build personal development and succession plans to support internal promotions.
Training & Development – Work Closely with the People Development Manager on Training Needs. Support the Head of HR with the Management Development Project.
Leavers – Ensure all leavers are processed via payroll and complete the exit interview survey. Hold 1-1 exit interviews where required.
Person Specification:
* CIPD Qualified or Time served HR BP considered
* 360 degree HR role combining strategic planning with hands on duties
* Previous experience as HRBP / HR Advisor – ideally within Charity Retail or Retail, Hospitality, Manufacturing or other fast paced environments
* Strong ER & Employment Law Knowledge or Strong Talent Management Experience around Recruitment & Management Development
* Resilient and able to deal with complex and difficult ER matters
* Willingness to travel across a regional territory
