Transport Planner

Milton Keynes

Continental Days (4 on, 4 off)

£28,000 – £30,000

We are looking for a motivated Transport Planner to join a market leading distribution company in their respective field. Reporting directly to the Transport Manager you will be a key member in ensuring the transport department is kept running. With progressive training and development this company is always looking to enhance its employees and their skill sets, whilst additionally being supported by a welcoming team of employees. Role Description

* To take overall responsibility for the organisation of the Transport Department and provide strategic advice and planning support to the Deputy Transport Manager.

* To be responsible for managing all drivers, including van drivers, scheduling of rotas, rest days and so on in conjunction with the Deputy Transport Manager.

* To manage recruitment and selection of drivers in conjunction with the HR Department.

* To monitor individual staff performance and provide coaching and training as well as deal effectively with any performance or disciplinary matters in conjunction with the HR team.

* To be responsible for reviewing, sourcing and monitoring of the fleet maintenance contractor in conjunction with the Deputy Transport Manager.

* To ensure the Company complies fully with all Ministry of Transport and VOSA legislation and requirements.

* Monitor purchase of all new vehicles and advise, as appropriate, on recommended disposals from the fleet.

* Evaluate and review daily route scheduling and ensure efficiency in designated routes.

* Ensure cleanliness of the fleet in conjunction with the Deputy Transport Manager.

* Ensure safe systems of working for all staff under your responsibility including provision of all manual handling and other training activities.

* Monitor and seek to ensure department remains within its monthly financial budget, in consultation with the managing director.

* Adhere to strictest confidentiality standards with regards all Company financial and salary matters.

Skills/Qualifications

* Transport management experience

* Experience within a manufacturing/production environment

* Relevant qualifications – desirable
