The Role

Are you a Quantity Surveyor seeking the next step in your career?

Here at Amey, within the Rail sector, we have an opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team as part of the expanding portfolio of Signalling Design & Construct Contracts.

This is an opportunity to function across several offices and multiple Frameworks & projects (Signalling – Wales, Wessex & Western, IPEM Framework – Derby/London) as well as support in the development of new opportunities.

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial and contractual functions on a variety of projects in this sector. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, the position requires working closely with commercial and operational colleagues, finance, design teams, suppliers, and clients.

The role requires a proactive organised approach to the management of contracts, implementation of commercial & corporate policy, close & effective liaison with colleagues and the need to form strong, open working relationships based on trust & integrity.

We are a progressive employer and offer hybrid and remote working (locations Bristol, Buckingham or Derby).

Duties

Implement commercial best practice to maximise value and minimise risk and cost to Amey with due regards to a customer focused delivery.
Provide accurate cost planning, financial control, CVR reporting, budgeting and WIP management through liaison with the finance and operational functions.
Coach and Develop commercial and non-commercial staff to ensure commercial processes are embedded at all levels of the business.
Promote the Amey "Zero Harm" Safety Culture and support delivery of the account Target Zero Action Plans.
Develop excellent client relationships in support of successful account delivery, to aid change and conflict management and promoting Amey in retaining/winning future works.
Embrace and drive Amey's "Freedom to Perform" strategy promoting the Empower, Engage, Excel approach and ensuring that you and the team take on the appropriate responsibility and accountability in conjunction with your Operations and Finance counterpartsExperience

Experience in operating on Network Rail forms of Contract (NR12 / NR4)
Experience in Network Rail systems, either with direct Network Rail experience or having worked on an Alliance.
Main Contractor experience would be beneficial
Experience in supply chain procurement, management and accounting
Appreciation of the records, approaches and options for dispute resolution and avoidance
Experience in commercial and financial budgeting and reporting
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products especially Excel and Word
