Please note this role will require occasional travel to the company HQ manufacturing site in Avonmouth, Bristol for management meetings and internal audit purposes.
The successful candidate will potentially be required to be based at the Avonmouth site for 1 week for training purposes prior to starting in Aylesbury, depending on the relevant skills and experience of the candidate. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered.
Role & Responsibilities:
– On-site Technical lead for the Aylesbury manufacturing site
– Managing a small team of 1 QA and 2 factory-based QCs
– Reporting directly to the Technical & Quality Manager, and the Technical Compliance Manager based at the Avonmouth HQ site.
– Part of the Aylesbury site HACCP & TACCP team representing the Technical function.
– Encourage a positive food safety culture across all departments.
– Assist the Technical & Quality Manager and the Technical Compliance Manager with preparation to gain BRCGS Food Safety certification at the new Aylesbury site.
– Collate monthly data on internal audits and complaints, and report back to HQ.
– Investigate and respond to customer complaints with assistance of the QA. Escalate any major incidents to Technical Management.
– Working as part of the Technical department the role will require working closely with production to ensure the highest quality across the products, and compliance with food safety and legal requirements throughout the site.
– Ensure products are made to specification and correct policies and procedures are followed during the production process.
– Overseeing and supporting with the QA daily, weekly, and monthly scheduled tasks including scale and probe calibrations, verifying paperwork, microbiological sample submission and filing, clean down verification, temperature checks, internal non-conformance, glass & plastic audits and fabrication audits and other tasks as requested by department management.
– Supporting the training of staff and verification against CCPs, policies and procedures.
– To conduct internal GMP audits across departments and conduct hygiene verifications.
– Assisting the Technical & Quality Manager and the Technical Compliance Manager with external audits at the Aylesbury site.

Qualifications and experience
Essential:
– Minimum 2 years experience in a food manufacturing environment within a technical/food safety capacity
– Food safety level 3
– HACCP level 2
– Knowledge of relevant food safety legislation
– Internal auditing experience
– Computer literate, particularly Microsoft programs including Excel, Word and Outlook.
Desirable:
– Knowledge/experience of working with the BRCGS standard for Food Safety
– First-hand experience with third party of customer audits
– Experience of directly managing a team
