The Infrastructure Engineer role ensures the effective operation, installation and configuration of all systems; recommending hardware and software acquisitions and upgrades.
A quick look at the role
Maintain all elements of IT Infrastructure, supporting and optimising key functional areas, particularly server infrastructure and all Biffa data centres.
Monitor IT service performance, availability and capacity; ensure data centre capacity is measured and provide regular capacity reports and appropriate availability.
Maintain agreed security and compliance policies at all Biffa data centres. Test and document disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Apply technical support concepts to deliver the highest standard of technical support
Support the review of system architecture and recommend improvements in line with Service Delivery
Provide day to day consultation, training, instruction, troubleshooting and problem solving to the IT Department and group business units for hardware, software, network and related computer systems and peripheral devices.Requirements
Experience of Microsoft, Linux, Azure and 365,
Ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of all Biffa business plans, and relate that knowledge to identify operational and IT related initiatives.
Knowledge necessary to propose relevant IT responses to changing business and project risks
Proven experience with Infrastructure design and support
Linux administration skills
Windows administration and support skills
Enterprise anti-virus, Cloud technologies.
Ability to effectively communicate concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Strong commitment to change and service improvements with the appropriate level of judgment and maturity.
