We are looking for a passionate and skilled HSE Officer to run all aspects of our Health, Safety & Environment department, from our offices to our factory shop floor. We want to find candidates with the desire to grow and progress within the company with the support of ongoing professional training and development.
Health, Safety & Environmental Officer Responsibilities:
• Implementing risk assessments and safe systems of work for all tasks and areas within the company. You will do this by ensuring that all hazards and risks are highlighted and eliminated or reduced to as low as possible.
• Working closely with all managers especially with the engineering and production managers to achieve health & safety goals and continuously improve working standards.
• Ensuring that standards of health & safety maintained at all times.
• Preparing and implementing the necessary policies and processes related to health, safety and environmental standards and up to date legislation (HSE).
• Monitoring Environmental impact and ensure site adheres to Company & Customer requirements as well as any UK legislation.
• Writing safe working procedures, which account for all relevant hazards.
• Conducting in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
• Keeping and completing, where necessary, records of near misses, incidents and accidents, audits and inspections, producing statistics for managers.
• Ensuring all environmental, health and safety related documents are kept up to date and auditable.
• Ensuring compliance with LOLER, PUWER and HASAWA obligations.
• Advising and implementing on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, the environment, dust, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
• Managing work wear and PPE for all employees.
Health, Safety & Environmental Officer Requirements:
• A proactive approach to Health and Safety.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to plan your own workload and supervise contractors.
• Strong IT skills.
• NEBOSH qualified.
• IOSH qualified.
• Be able to work well as part of the wider site team and support others in the company.
• have previous experience in a similar role.
• have exceptional interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and written.
• You will have excellent accuracy skills, attention to detail and be organised and efficient.
Some experience working in a busy food production position would be an advantage, but full training will be given for the right person.
