Activities Support Worker

Salary from £18,576 to £18,730 pa (pro rata) rising to £19,200 through length of service

We have fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who have varying Mental Health support needs and who are over the age of 18. They live in self-contained flats within 2 buildings within the Milton Keynes area.
We help our customers who have varying Mental Health and Autistic support needs. In this role you will get involved in delivering the fun stuff, which helps them to regain their confidence as well as keep busy and occupied. You’ll run our current activity groups which include things like gardening, music, art and crafts. We are also really keen for you to work with our customers to plan new activities!

About our team
You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Mike who has worked for Home Group for over 5 years now!
When you join, there will be 4 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too! Marilyn and Piers are our coordinators, and have also been at Home Group a while, that means they will be on hand to support you and get you settled in!
Working hours
Ideally, you’ll work 3 days per week for 5 hours per day. The good news is that we are happy to work with you to agree the specific days and times. We aim to give you the time you need to do the things that matter to you!

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank. You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.
About you
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. Ideally you will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively. We help change our customer’s lives for the better!
To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)
It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!
As our services are split over 2 buildings and some activities may be based within the community, you need to be aware that you may be asked to travel within the local area. This may be by taxi to accompany a customer or in your own transport to travel to our other site. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!
When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
