Job title: Bid / Tendering / Proposal Engineer
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000pa
We are looking for a Bid / Tendering / Proposal Engineer to fill a newly created position within the our client to help with the next phase of growth. The Company specialises in electrical equipment and systems for the naval defence sector and works on wide range of UK and foreign naval platforms and new builds.
The successful candidate will be responsible for taking ownership of the technical response to bids and opportunities and working with supplier and partners to identify optimum solutions. The role will be taking over work currently undertaken by the MD and Business Development Director, who will provide full support during the transition, and will report directly to the BDD.
You will be responsible for:
· Creating and owning the overall technical response.
· Working with the Engineering Department for technical parts of the bid.
· Writing the full technical response, including documentation, quality, safety and planning elements.
· Work with colleagues across the business to create an accurate estimate of time and cost to complete.
· Creating project management plans.
· Working with the Key Accounts Manager to assist with pricing, obsolescence management and export control of existing products / designs.
You will have:
· An engineering degree or equivalent work-based experience, ideally with a background in electrical control systems (including starters, power conversion etc).
· A sound appreciation of electrical, electronic and PLC systems, preferably in a structured engineering environment such as aerospace, defence, rail or nuclear engineering.
· A positive attitude, outgoing and able to converse confidently with different skill sets (engineering, production, purchasing, sales, management) and personality types.
· Excellent written and verbal skills – confident user of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint .
· Strong business acumen and able to identify opportunities and solutions.
The package :
· £30K-£40K depending on experience.

· Extended weekend, finishing at 12:30 on Fridays.
Please note this role may requires UK defence security clearance to SC level as a minimum, you must be SC clearable to apply for this role. This generally requires that you have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years.
