Research Chemist

An exciting position has just been created for a Research Chemist with a chemistry background to join my client as they embark on a new, exciting 2 year project. The successful candidate will be joining a small, multidisciplinary R&D team working out of my clients state of the art Laboratory in the High Wycombe area.

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, have practical experience of developing new formulations and scale-up processes. Have experience setting up the lab and enlist the items needed to conduct your research. Whilst any experience with PCM, HVAC equipment, thermal battery design or a Phd is desirable. As is any experience with PCM in an academic or industry environment.

Joining a multidisciplinary team working towards the research and design of a band new product you can expect your role to involve the following:

Perform formulation development to ensure final products are stable and simple to use.

Set up the lab for PCM testing and performance analysis

*

Use building simulation data to define PCM Technical Requirements Specification

*

Work with potential suppliers to identify suitable PCM for scale manufacturing

*

Engineering analysis and thermal calculations to validate expected performance

*

Meet product and work package cost targets; ensure final product is cost competitive in the market

*

Support Mechanical Engineer to design a performance optimised PCM panel

*

Prepare risk assessments, chemical analysis and failure mode and effects analysis

*

Conduct in-depth literature review, patent research, writing and filing new patent applications.
