Responsibility of Lead Occupational Therapist
To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of Patients within assigned clinical case load, working without direct supervision.
To assess, plan and implement appropriate occupational therapy intervention and maintenance programmes for Patients using clinical reasoning and determining the most appropriate treatment options from a range of options.
To monitor and evaluate progress of Patients and make modifications and alterations to such programmes as necessary.
To represent occupational therapy and/ or individual Patients at multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure the delivery of a coordinated service and the integration of physiotherapy treatment, including discussion of patient care, progress and discharge planning including the production of progress reports and discharge reports.
Work within the framework of our Assessment and Rehabilitation Pathways and collect outcome measure data for individual Patients to demonstrate effective treatment and appropriate outcomes.
To assist in Patient and relative education in preparation for discharge, ensuring effective therapeutic relationships are developed and outcomes are maximised
Qualification and Experience required for Lead Occupational Therapist:
To work at all times within the framework of the Hospital’s Standard Operating Procedures, Values Framework and Therapy Department Guidelines.
Promote and maintain the good reputation of the Hospital at all times.
Attend annual mandatory training as directed.
Work within the Safeguarding Principles and discuss with senior staff any safeguarding concerns without delay.
Work within the Information Governance Principles and Caldicott Guidelines to maintain Patient confidentiality at all times.
To work within the agreed framework of this job description, you’re Code of Professional Conduct and CQC and other regulatory frameworks, including those relating to Patient records, risk assessment and appropriate management of risks.
