Laboratory Technician / Senior Lab Technician – Sequencing

Location: Milton Keynes
Contract: 6 months
Pay Rate: Competitive Salary + Benefits

I am looking for a Laboratory Technician / Senior Lab Technician to join a Diagnostic Lab in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will be assist in whole genome sequencing of Covid-19 positive RNA samples.

This is a shift role where you will be required to work 4 days on, 4 days off

Key responsibilities:

Conducting laboratory processes and procedures for the Sequencing project
Perform highly skilled manual pipetting and sample processing techniques in the Sequencing laboratory.
Ensure equipment is maintained to the required standard
Compliance with ISO and Health and Safety documentation and procedures.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory.
Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment (manual and automated systems).
Updating sample records, documents like smartsheets, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and reporting process issuesKey requirements:

BSc in Relevant Scientific Area
Previous experience of working in a PCR based laboratory
The ability to plan, organise and control several different activities
The ability to work unsupervised, follow process and adhere to SOPs
Ability to work and think methodically
Excellent attention to detail
Pro-active attitude
