We are currently working in partnership with the UK Biocentre in Milton Keynes, one of the UK's Lighthouse Labs carrying out COVID-19 testing. Due to an increase in testing, we are recruiting for Lab Assistants for an Immediate Start. We are looking for candidates with previous lab experience, ideally with an A-Level in Biology or Chemistry.

Working Hours: Rotational Shift DAYS 8am-8pm & NIGHTS 8pm-8am, 3 days on 2 days off, 2 days on 3 days off (working a 7 day fortnight)

Pay Rate: £11.00 per hour, rising to £12.15 per hour after 12 weeks

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Provide support services to the laboratory

* Work closely with the Laboratory Manager, Shift Manager and Section Manager to ensure all individual process areas can perform efficiently

* Ensure all PPE is cleaned and rotated as required to ensure adequate provision is provided in a timely manner for each shift.

* Make up solutions/ reagents where necessary

* Provide laboratory consumables to process areas

* Ensure waste is cleared efficiently from the laboratory

* Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment

* Preparation of samples for processing

Essential Criteria:

* Methodical working

* Previous experience of working in a laboratory

* Ability to work under pressure

* Ability to manage own workload

* Ability to troubleshoot issues

* Ability to thrive in new situations

* Good communication and proactive attitude

* GCSE Maths and English at pass level or equivalent qualification

Desirable Criteria:

* Understanding of laboratory functionality

* Previous experience of making up solutions through dilutions etc

* Experience of using Microsoft Excel

Current contract length for this position is 6 months, however could be extended
