Data Scientist – Next Generation Sequencing

Location: Milton Keynes
Contract: 6 months
Pay Rate: Competitive Salary + Benefits

I am looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join a Diagnostic Lab in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will be performing analysis on whole genome sequencing data and performing trend analysis on data from sequencing project as well as the covid test lab.

This is a shift role where you will be required to work 4 days on, 4 days off

Key responsibilities:

Perform Data Analysis on high throughput data on both the PCR Covid testing platforms and the Sequencing platforms
Perform Data analysis and calling on Whole genome sequencing data of Covid positive RNA samples
Liaise with the informatics team to build data monitoring tools and dashboards
Perform trend analysis and in-silica experiments on lab data
Perform and analyse data to identify recurring issues within the quality of the process
Troubleshoot the process and work on continuous improvement of the process.Key requirements:

PhD or MSc + significant experience in handling large data sets from a high throughput laboratory
Experience in DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR EPCR, Sequencing and handing FAST5, FASTQ data file formats.
Knowledge and experience with tools like R, Python, SQL serves
Basic Knowledge with Bioinformatics and previous experience in analysing Sequencing Data
Evidence of excellent communication and extensive team-working skills.
Evidence of excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
