Our client is a genuinely full-service agency. All their creative services are in-house, including digital and motion graphics. They also have a fast-growing martech team (the data people) and a media team (the audience people).
This role brings together journalism, marketing strategy, planning and copywriting – both advertising and direct response.
It's a role designed for modern marketing communications, where audiences are fragmented and hard to reach, products are commoditised and homogenous, and messages are grappling for distinct space in the mind of the reader.
This role is for someone who understands that customer relationships can no longer be managed with a transactional, 'AIDA' approach. They are in the business of audience delivery for their clients, finding, attracting, reminding and moving people to take action. FARMing them. It's about creating and maintaining relationships that lead to repeat sales of increasing value.
We need you to take on this role for what is currently the biggest tech account in the agency (others are catching up fast). It is also the most diverse account, selling everything from PCs, mobile phones and accessories to hybrid cloud technologies, consultancy and support services, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality. They operate in every conceivable vertical in every geography. At the moment, they are the #1 PC brand worldwide. And, they're genuine innovators, with a proud history and some interesting thinking; they're in the process of making software and services a much bigger part of the business, recognising that people don't buy hardware anymore. Everything is going to be 'as-a-Service'. Or a lot of things, anyway.
As Content Strategist for this account, you will be at the forefront of this innovation. You'll be digging into some of the world's most advanced technologies and developing the messages that will take them to market. You'll interrogate the market to understand the competition and, most importantly, the audience. You'll share the lead in the client relationship, providing the insights and ideas that inspire them to invest in effective campaigns.
You won't be alone. You'll be working with the planning team and with a client services team that knows this account intimately. You'll also be backed by a team of writers and artists who have long experience of working with the tech brand, and who can take your messaging and creative ideas and turn them into responsive campaigns.
We'll give you the time and space to get to the heart of the brand, the market and the audience. You'll be focused on the issues that matter to customers (and partners – this company does more than 90% of its business through the channel) and you will challenge our clients to take the lead in the industry conversations around them.
This is why journalism matters. Our clients need us to help them develop a commanding voice among their audiences. This means testing their propositions with a journalist's eye, taking nothing at face value and being the voice of the audience in discussions about marketing strategy. You'll need a nose for the real story and be able to find the angle that gets the reader's attention. You'll also need to tell that story with authority and in a way that inspires the reader to take action. And, you'll need to sell your story to your editor – in this case, the client.
