MDC Precision is based in Milton Keynes, the 20000sq ft facility is the European manufacturing arm of MDC Precision LLC (US based headquarters). MDC Precision are certified to ISO 9001:2015 and specialise in the design and manufacture of precision engineered vacuum and pressure vessels, components, systems and ancillary equipment.
Operating at the forefront of commercial science, MDC Precision products are used in the applied physical science departments of worldwide universities, national and multi-national research facilities as well as the materials and semiconductor research and development laboratories of telecommunications/electronics companies. MDC was formed in 1975 and has a global turnover >$80M p.a.
Due to growth, we have positions available for a Test and Assembly Supervisor. Experience in pressure or vacuum vessel assembly would be advantageous.
Key Skills/Competencies:
* Supervisory Experience.
* Organised and responsive, with the ability to deliver under pressure.
* Able to influence people through clear, concise communication skills in both verbal and written format.
* Technical competence.
* IT/ PC literacy.
* Good organisational skills.
* An understanding of Helium leak testing.
* Experience of fault finding and repair on mechanical equipment and in leading a team within an engineering environment is essential.
Experience in pressure or vacuum vessel assembly would be advantageous.
The role has currently 5 direct reports that they would be responsible for ensuring that they and their reports:
* Understand and apply all relevant Health and Safety procedures.
* Day to day organization and forward planning to ensure maximum efficiency and utilisation of labour.
* Progress of component builds relative to targets and delivery dates.
* Work closely with Design department to eliminate waste.
* Successful NDT (mainly vacuum and pressure), of components produced and completion of documentation.
* Attend daily and weekly meetings and communication to direct reports.
* Daily / weekly briefing of staff on performance relative to targets.
* Management of overtime in line with company targets.
* Ensure all equipment is calibrated before use.
The position will be salaried paid with core hours Monday to Friday and based on a 40hour week. However, from time to time overtime will be required and will be rewarded
Qualifications:
Level 3 NVQ Qualifications or equivalent
Supervisory/Management qualifications would be advantageous
