The main purpose of the role is to support the Group Quality Manager on the Milton Keynes in ensuring full compliance with all quality, food, safety, GMP, Environment, customer and legislative standards and policies and external certification. In addition, to lead microbiology related testing, investigations and improvements to ensure industry best practice. A partnership approach is required and the focus is on coaching, training and developing your stakeholders to ensure on-going and robust compliance.
Responsibilities
To troubleshoot, investigate and identify root cause of micro / food safety issues and develop / implement appropriate corrective actions.
Develop and implement statistically sound sampling plans for product testing and environmental monitoring
To play a proactive role in improving product quality, food safety and site standards through training, support, development of appropriate process controls, toolbox talks, road shows and proactive engagement of employees across all business areas
To benchmark and drive best practice / policy deployment / training requirements across all sites and branches and keep the sites up to date with new initiatives
To play a key role in the development and implementation of the IMS and effective IT based quality / process monitoring systems in conjunction with appropriate Department Managers and key stakeholders across the business
To proactively support NPD projects, R&D projects, risk assessments and product launches in conjunction with the site team and key stakeholders
To lead the site HACCP Team and provide support and advice
To advise and support sites in the adoption of SPC / Process Control
To Implement and train out all changes to BRC and ISO standards ahead of next round of audits
To lead and drive compliance against External and internal Audit schedule across the groupKnowledge & Experience
Ideally educated to degree level in a scientific discipline
Experience working within an FMCG environment, ideally food or drink based
Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop a high performing team
In depth knowledge and understanding of ISO standards (9001, 14001), HACCP, BRC, GMP standards and Integrated Management Systems
Proven knowledge and understanding of the relevant statutory regulations relating to food safety and environment management
