The role of Quality Controller will see you take responsibility for monitoring and controlling materials during the conversion process and evaluate finished products against set specifications, using standard test methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Ensure that all company procedures and statutory standards for Health, Safety and Environmental Protection are applied throughout the duration of the shift.
To report to the Shift Leader and contain any unsafe situations to prevent the potential for workplace injuries

Report any breakdowns, malfunctions, problems, borderline test results and out of specification test results promptly to the Shift Leader.

Test samples according to the testing schedule and specifications for each individual product.

Adjust formulas as required to achieve the specifications by the most expedient route to minimise downtime.

Maintain records of all inspections carried out and transfer the data to IT systems as required. Keep a shift log to aid the hand-over to the next shift.

Maintain a high standard of equipment availability

Housekeeping of the QC laboratory.

Assist in analysing samples resulting from improvement programs, complaints etc. as directed by the Shift Leader.

Carry out additional testing in the event of production problems, as directed by the Shift Leader

Assist the rest of the production team in their activities (e.g. Monitoring lines; helping with clean-downs etc.), as directed by the Shift Leader.

Work a minimum of two shifts per month as a machine controller to allow each team to develop and maintain a deputy Shift Quality Controller
PERSON SPECIFICATION
For the role you will need to have a proven background working within a manufacturing / engineering based environment working within Quality Control. You will be working alongside the production team working on production lines which means you can be on your feet for long periods of time. A good level of general education is required with GSCE A-C in English of Maths. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to analyse complex problems and find solutions. You must have experience of working iwth Microsoft Office applications.
REMUNERATION & HOURS OF WORK.
Working Hours are 4 x 12 hour day shifts and 4 x 12 hour night shifts with 4 off in between each block.
Salary £22,000 + shift allowance of £10,930/annum.
Bonus Scheme – Payment in line with prevailing company scheme – currently potential is 6% of basic salary (not guaranteed).
Annual Holidays – 25 shifts. Bank holidays are worked as part of the shift pattern. Up to 13 of these shifts can be company nominated – the plant shuts down over Christmas and for 2 weeks in summer.
Pension Scheme – Defined Contribution Scheme, 5% of employee salary to be contributed, employer contributes 6% – 12% dependant on age
