A fantastic opportunity has become available for an Operations Manager with great experience to lead a team of Shift Managers for our client based in Buckinghamshire. Due to expansion and progression this is a brand-new role for someone join a well-established and successful food manufacturer.
Job Role
Reporting to the Head of Operations you will be responsible for managing the day to day running of an BRC grade A 24/7 food manufacturing facility, producing high quality products for the UK as well as export markets. As a senior manager, you will lead a team of managers and support with the coordination of the workflow between departments, drive efficiency by improving processes, ensure on time delivery and exceptional quality levels.
Responsibilities
• Ensuring on-time planned activities attained within the given capacity, minimising downtime, and maintaining set OEE
• Overseeing production shifts, with Shift Managers as direct reports, challenging processes and practices and streamlining human and manufacturing resources
• Responsible for on-time product shipping against customer demand, achieving and maintaining set service levels
• Managing each shift to achieve set KPIs
• Overseeing Engineering Department and set KPIs, with the Engineering manager as a direct report
• Working alongside Lean Manufacturing Manager, drive continuous improvement in processes and quality to deliver set objectives in line with the budgeted activities
• Understanding factors that affect efficiency (labour costs, waste, non-conformances etc)
• Resource and capacity planning
• Supporting Shift Managers in providing a clear sense of direction and focus to shift colleagues
• Coaching, mentoring and developing a high performing management team to meet and deliver the operational business plan, goals and objectives
• Monitoring and managing direct report’s performance, addressing concerns where identified
• Total food safety and product quality commitment throughout the operations
• Supporting in reviewing and implementing hygiene SOPs
• Strive to improve manufacturing practices in line with total quality management principles
• Working alongside the Technical Department, deliver set objectives in improving manufacturing process to obtain a better-quality product with minimum variability batch on batch

• Able to manage, motivate and influence positive work behaviours
• Strong leadership skills with proven experience of building strong teams
• Strong ambassador of a health and safety culture
• Excellent communication skills
• KPI driven
• Robust sense of budget adherence
• Experience of managing performance, disciplinary, grievance issues
• Ideally have a strong working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or Kaizen
• Experience in chilled and/or frozen FMCG environment
• IT competence
• Advantage WMS, ERP/MRP systems
