They are looking to recruit an experienced Machinist/Technician, to start 17th January 2022 to 1st July 2022, paying between £12.21 – £13.69ph depending on expereince. This role will be based in the Milton Keynes campus and full government restrictions are being adhered to. The role is working Monday to Friday – 37hrs per week.
The role holder will be expected to assist with prototyping and manufacture of using manually & computer operated machine-tools and assist with the evaluation and modification of complete or part assemblies of complex equipment and to contribute to the efficient and safe running of the STEM facility. Competent to work from a CAD/CAM file.
Main responsibilities:
To prototype, manufacture, evaluate and modify complete assemblies and/or component parts of complex equipment. Working from CAD/CAM and CNC files to progress to next stage of production.
Working from verbal requests, rough sketches or engineering drawings and electronic files, using a full range of manual and computer-controlled precision engineering machinery to produce component parts and assemblies to specification, on time and within budget.
To use computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacture (CAM) software in conjunction with the use of the computer numerical control (CNC) lathe, mills and router to produce complex parts that cannot be easily produced on manually operated machinery.
Person Spec:
Relevant engineering training or proven relevant experience in a workshop /Machine-shop environment.
Ability to read engineering drawings in modern formats.
Proven experience in the use of manually & computer operated machine-tools safely and to good effect whilst producing components and assemblies on time, to budget, with a good finish and to a high level of precision.
A good understanding of the health and safety requirements in a workshop environment.
