Qualifications/experience required to fulfil this position:
* Relevant City and Guilds or, a mechanical aptitude, or relevant engineering experience.
* Machine setting/ Machine repairs/Quality inspection
* Ability to work in a timely manner, to completion and working to deadlines
* Knowledge of the food industry.
* Knowledge of continual improvement programmes.
* Experience of working towards targets / KPIs.
Daily Activities and Job Requirements:
Department: Production:
* Complete tool changes and set-up in a timely manner.
* Optimise cycle speeds ensuring quality specification is achieved.
* Diagnose and correct running faults in a timely manner.
* Maintenance and general up keep of the machines.
* Assist the QC/QA Team in identifying issues and suggest corrective actions.
* Effectively communicate any issues that arise with the Production Manager, Production Director or QC/QA Manager.
* Ensure Health and Safety procedures and practices are adhered to.
* Accurately complete set up in accordance with QC/QA controlled procedures.
* Actively participate in continuous improvement projects and training.
* Ensure good housekeeping at all times.
* Promote team work.
* Warm machines up and ensure all operational for planned start time
* Preventative maintenance on machines during break times and out of standard hours to ensure the machines operate continuously for the planned times
* Changing materials on machine as they run out
* Ensuring correct materials are used in accordance with the QC/QA procedures.
* First-off quality acceptance with QC/QA Manager, Production Manager or Production Director, in accordance with QC/QA Controls and procedures.
* Assist in continual monitoring of product during manufacture for both weight, material type, leaks and any other quality issues.
* Continually working on improvements to ensure the fastest time through production
* As and when required, working as a production operative.
* Maintaining the general upkeep and tidiness of the factory.
General:
You will be setting and maintaining packing machines/lines for specific tasks and maximum efficiency against stated target output for a busy contract packing company, working on multiple lines and products, where no two days are the same.
This is a role for a self-motivated and driven individual capable of working on his/her own initiative with minimal supervision. It is the responsibility of the Machine Setter to ensure the smooth and speedy transition of orders and maintain an accurate product is set and quality maintained before and after machine and product are set and confirmed.
This role suits a mechanically minded individual, with a passion for engineering, whether that be interests in working with mechanics, electrics or general aptitude for all. It is a fast paced role and enviroment, so requires a level of fitness and agility to cope with the demands of the role
