Are you experienced in Health, Safety & Environmental matters (HSE) and passionate about the role that you play in keeping your people safe? Due to our expanding business, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our Unit 6 team in Milton Keynes.
Reporting to the General Manager, our Health & Safety Advisor works alongside our HSE & Engineering Manager covering the Unit 6 site. You'll use your ability to partner the business by engaging and influencing Bakery to Board Room driving our Health, Safety and Environmental culture. You'll have passion and commitment to Health Safety & Environmental best-practice and enjoy working in a fast-paced and diverse business.

As a valued-member of our Health & Safety team you’ll be based in our Milton Keynes site, Burneys Bakery and responsible for all the Health and Safety for our bakery. You will also be required to ensure standards are maintained and continuously improved.
You will be directly involved in managing and supporting Health, Safety & Environmental training courses, working with our managers to supply content and ideas and delivering key Health & Safety training at site therefore you’ll be confident in promoting and presenting to groups of people. You will have experience in safety management systems and compliance, and by using your investigation skills you will identify non-conformities in data and work with our teams to implement an action plan. You will be skilled in auditing and compliance management.
You will have a natural coaching style that will enable our team to implement Health & Safety requirements across the site, working to embed a business-partnering approach and upskill our teams by driving positive cultural change. It’s vitally important that you engage with our Managers and team members to understand the importance of their Health, Safety and Environmental obligations and that you become the industry expert on site. Supported by the HSE & Engineering Manager, you’ll be the go-to person for advice and guidance so building strong relationships will be key to your success.
As a Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor you’ll be working as part of our wider Health, Safety & Environmental team and involved with our National standards and projects, as a family we have one team and one way of working.
There will be the occasional need to travel to other sites and depots as part of the job therefore you must have a valid UK driving licence.
During the first 3 months of the role you will be required to travel to our Nottingham site for training, with at least one day a week working at our Milton Keynes site.
With your engaging and influential style, you will have a natural curiosity and a desire to learn and share your expertise. You’ll ensure that best practice standards are developed and maintained on site. With the opportunity to identify and implement improvements, you’ll be a natural at encouraging and persuading your colleagues to adopt best practise safety standards.
Essential Ingredients:
* Experience of working as a Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor in a similar role within a fast-paced manufacturing (FMCG) environment would be an advantage
* NEBOSH certificate, willing to work towards NEBOSH diploma (or equivalent)
* IEMA Foundation certificate in Environmental Management, or willing to work towards
* Excellent investigative skills, able to probe and clarify where required
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications & managing a Health & Safety Database
* Valid Driving license
