They are looking to recruit an experienced Engineering Technician/Machinist, to start 24th January 2022 to 15th July 2022, paying between£14.51 – £17.31ph depending on experience. This role will be based in the Milton Keynes campus and full government restrictions are being adhered to. The role is working Monday to Friday – 37hrs per week.
The role holder will be expected to manufacture from sketches, drawings and verbal instructions equipment to be used in STEM related projects using manually & computer operated machine-tools. Competent to originate a CAD/CAM file or open an existing file and make modifications to progress to next stage.
Main responsibilities:
To design, prototype, manufacture, evaluate and modify complete assemblies and/or component parts of complex equipment. Modifying and originating CAD/CAM and CNC files.
Working from verbal requests, rough sketches or engineering drawings and electronic files, using a full range of manual and computer-controlled precision engineering machinery to produce component parts and assemblies to specification, on time and within budget
Contribute to advising and assisting facility users in identifying the best methods, materials and procedures for overcoming problems whilst evaluating the relative merits of potential solutions.
Person Spec:
Relevant engineering training or proven relevant and ongoing experience in a workshop /Machine-shop environment.
Ability to read engineering drawings in latest formats.
Proven experience in the use of manually & computer operated machine-tools safely and to good effect whilst producing components and assemblies on time, to budget, with a good finish and to a high level of precision.
A good understanding of the health and safety requirements in a workshop environment.
